The Steens Mountain region is one of the most interesting places I have been to in the U.S.

First of all, who knew there was a desert? In Oregon. The Steens Mountain itself (not pictured here) is a jagged patch of green that juxtaposes against the flat, dry desert right beside it. The area is super remote because it is so unknown, which frankly made this photo possible. How else would I have been able to stop in the middle of the highway during sunset?
