After spending some time in Banff, we started our epic roadtrip back to LA through the middle of the U.S. (vs. the coast on the way up). First stop was Glacier National Park, which has three areas: Many Glacier, Going-to-the-Sun Road, and Two Medicine. Each area offers a similar but very different experience. Many Glacier is for the serious hiker: less crowded and the starting point for some very epic, long hikes. Going-to-the-Sun Road is the main tourist area and scenic drive with the highest reward to effort ratio. And Two Medicine is the least crowded with more water-focused hikes and activities.
This photo was taken on the way back on the Iceberg Lake Trail in Many Glacier, which is an iconic hike in the area. This is one of my favorite hikes not just because of the views, but because it is a very, very consistent ascent and descent over ~10 miles. Much better than steep up and downs for the same net elevation gain!
